Installation view, Peredelkino Writers' Village, 2018
Public Art. Trees, archival photos, acrylic, paper
Outside Installation by Oksana Yushko and Arthur Bondar
Tree carry memories and store them in their annual rings. The forest shares collective memory of the place, gathering data and recording our common history. Relationship established between trees and men are also archived in photographs, texts, documents.
The project refers to coexistence of human and nature and emphasizes the unique layering of lives and experiences in Peredelkino, a memorable writer’s colony outside Moscow, where many famous writers lived and worked.
Boris Pasternak wrote his Doctor Zhivago here. Poets Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Andrei Voznesensky, Bella Akhmadulina, Robert Rozhdestvensky walked those trails.
Transferred images reproduce the unspoken and irretrievable narratives which could be discovered through the secret archives and new approaches to communicating between human and non-human agents. Stored in the natural world the memories of those traumatic events show the interconnectedness of history and its consequences.
